History of the Company
The company was founded back in 1944, when the entrepreneur Jager started the production of machine-knitted mattresses. At that time, the company was named "Mestna vrvarna in Žimarna" (City rope and horsehair shop). After World War II the company was nationalized, its activities were gradually expanding in the field of development and production of various brushes and various tools for painters.
With the growth of production volumes, the company also introduced wood processing and expanded its operations further in the field of personal care products. During this period, the company continued with the production of raw materials (the bristles) for paint brushes and brushes using mechanical hardware for sorting and cleaning. The technology and equipment used in Žima has been imported mainly from Western Europe and partly been a result of our development. During this time, Žima has been the only manufacturer of toothbrushes in Slovenia and former Yugoslavia..
After Slovenia's independence in 1991, Žima had overnight, practically lost most of its market in former Yugoslavia. With privatization and reorganization of the business, it survived even that turbulent period. Today it is privately owned and successfully continues the tradition of making paint and other tools. Žima is part of a group MSIN, which consists of 8 companies, which together have more than 100 million sales annually.
If you haven't finished painting... don't worry, you can continue tomorrow.
Simply put your brushes and rollers in a plastic bag and wrap them well. Keep them for the next day in a cool place to prevent the paint drying out.
VOC Directive
Do you know that Slovenia, as a member of the European Union, has established a strict environmental legislation, a part of which is the VOC Directive (Volatile Organic Compounds) since 2004 on limiting the volatile organic compounds (VOC). In practice, this means that for its implementation we have to replace the organic solvents-based coatings with water-based coatings. The brushes from natural bristles are no longer very suitable for its application, a better choice are synthetic bristle brushes or a combination of both.
